Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting and Analysis, the Senior Corporate Accountant is in charge of managing financial information. As such, the Senior Corporate
Accountant’s main responsibilities include the following:
• Preparation of consolidated financial statements according to ASPE
• Actively involved in month and fiscal year-end closing. This includes, preparation of account reconciliations, variance analysis and requests from the external auditors
• Preparation of journal entries for all associated companies as required in completing the month end close process
• Review and explain variances to budget
• Processing Statistics Canada reports and monthly and quarterly tax filings as required
• Cash analysis including preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
• Special projects and ad hoc analyses
Required Competencies and Qualifications
• Accounting designation (CA, CGA or CMA)
• Post Secondary education in Accounting
• Strong organizational abilities, effective time management skills
• Strong initiative and the ability to work well within a team and in a fast paced, dynamic environment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Drive to take initiative and improve processes
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Working knowledge of Oracle is a definite asset
